Baby Blessing Box
We here at Trú Horizons, Inc. have recognized the disparities within our community in regard to maternal health care. According to The National Partnership for Women & Families, Black women are three to four times more likely to experience severe health complications during childbirth. In addition to this disparity, black infant mortality is just as startling. Racism, as well as social and economic stressors, play a major role in poor birth outcomes—babies born too early and too small—for Black women.
In an effort to assist women in our community, Tru Horizons, Inc. will be offering Baby Blessing Boxes. The Trú Horizons Baby Blessing Boxes will be customized the needs of the family. We provide supplies to assist families with the first month after the birth of their child. We also offer a list for local resources to assist with additional access to care, including mental health resources. Priority for boxes will be given to first-time mothers. If you know of a family in need of our Baby Blessing Box, please contact us via email at ajackson@truhorizons.org.
